Former PHS star running back and 2011 graduate Allan Wasonga was found dead Monday morning at his apartment in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
Wasonga had as much raw talent as any high school football player in West Virginia in the last two decades. He earned All-State honors as a junior for the Big Reds, racking up 2,203 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns. He totaled 3,248 yards and 40 touchdowns during his PHS career.
He was highly recruited across the nation, but academics and injuries led to those schools pulling back. Wasonga joined the Marshall University football team, but he never played a game. Wasonga had recent issues with arrests on assault and drug possession charges.
We'll have more updates on Wasonga's passing as soon as Mason County officials release the details.
