Bobcats Release 2013 Football Schedule

ATHENS, Ohio – The Bobcats’ season-opener at Louisville is set for Aug. 31. The Ohio-Louisville matchup will be the first meeting since 1959. In 2012, the Cardinals captured the BIG EAST and Sugar Bowl Championship.

On Sept. 7, Ohio will play the first of seven home games at Peden Stadium as it welcomes North Texas to Athens. The Bobcats’ seven home games are the most Ohio has played in Peden Stadium during the Frank Solich Era. Ohio’s matchup with the Mean Green will mark the first meeting since the 2009 matchup where the ‘Cats posted a thrilling 31-30 double overtime triumph at North Texas.

Following Ohio’s matchup with North Texas, the ‘Cats will remain at home for the next two weeks where they will face Marshall for the “Battle for the Bell” (Sept. 15) and Austin Peay (Sept. 21) before heading into their bye week on Sept. 28.

On Oct. 5, Ohio opens MAC play as it heads to Akron. The next week, Ohio will welcome Central Michigan to Peden Stadium for the first time since 2008. The Chippewas closed the 2012 season on a high note by claiming the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl title in Detroit.

The Bobcats round out the month of October with a trip to Eastern Michigan (Oct. 19.) and home matchup against Miami (Oct. 26) in the “Battle for the Bricks”.

Ohio closes out the year with four straight midweek games, beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 5 where it will head to Buffalo . The following week, the ‘Cats travel to Bowling Green for a Tuesday night matchup against the Falcons (Nov. 12)

The team will then return home the following Tuesday to take on Kent State (Nov. 21). The final game of the regular season will place the Bobcats against UMass on Friday (Nov. 29)

The regular season will conclude with the 16th Marathon MAC Football Championship game on Friday, Dec. 6 at Ford Field in Detroit on ESPN2. This will mark the tenth Marathon MAC Football Championship game at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions, Super Bowl XL, and the 2009 NCAA Men’s Final Four.
