When it comes to high school cross country in the Mountain State, it doesn't get any better than Maggie Drazba
The St. Marys senior has dominated the sport, and that's why she's received national recognition for the second year in a row
This morning Maggie was named the Gatorade West Virginia Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year during a presentation at St. Marys High School
The honor recognizes not only athletic achievement, but academic excellence and character as well.
This past fall Drazba won her third individual cross country state championship in the last 4 years
She had a record setting time of 17 minutes and 17 seconds. shattering the old mark by 15 seconds
Maggie is no doubt a gifted athlete, but she says she couldn't have accomplished this level of success on her own.
Maggie is now eligible for the national Cross Country Runner of the Year honors
She's also gearing up to help St. marys in another record setting run this spring in the State Track & Field Championships.
