Marietta High School is proud to announce the hiring of the new boys head varsity basketball coach, Mark Duckworth.
Coach Duckworth is a graduate of MHS and a life long resident of the community. As a student at MHS Mark earned the honors of captain, MVP, all district, and special mention while a member of the basketball team. Mark comes to the position with an impressive basketball resume. He began coaching in 1987 and has compiled a record of 321 wins and only 73 losses during his 22 year career. This includes a 96 win, 5 loss JV record in his last five years as a JV coach. Coach Duckworth's accolades include being named the OHSAA assistant coach of the year for all divisions in 2013. He was also an integral part of Warren's impressive run and appearance in the Boys Division II final four of this year's OHSAA state basketball tournament.
Coach Duckworth graduated from Marietta College with a degree in sports communication where he played for the Pioneers until a career ending injury. In 2012 Mark obtained his masters in Athletic Administration from Ohio University. He and his wife Rebecca, who teaches nursing at WVU-P, have two children, Derek age 12 and Mark, age 10, both attending school in Marietta.
