There's a new man in charge of the Parkersburg South football program.
The hiring of Mike Eddy as head football coach was approved Tuesday night by the Wood County Board of Education.
He replaces John Bolen who stepped down after a 6 year run
Eddy comes to the job from Gallia Academy, where in 4 years he turned around that football program. Over his final 3 seasons there, his teams posted a 21-9 record and won a conference championship and won a playoff game.
Before that, Eddy was an assistant coach for 5 seasons for the Parkersburg High Big Reds, heading up the defensive unit that helped PHS win consecutive state championships for the first time in school history.
Now he returns to the Parkersburg coaching ranks, this time taking charge of the Patriots program.
Being on both side of this rivalry, Eddy knows how special it is, .and how fired up both fans bases are about it.
