Phillips takes 7th in 100 Freestyle at U.S. Open Swim Meet

By  |

Until Tuesday, former Parkersburg High School swimmer Tim Phillips had never broken the 50 second barrier in the 100 meter

He did it twice, and that earned him a 7th place finish in the event at the U.S. Open swimming championship.

Tim's first sub 50 effort was a time of 49.77 in the preliminaries.
That was fifth fastest in a field of over 100 swimmers

He went to on to finish seventh in the event, his best finish ever in the 100 free in international competition.

His strong suit is the 100 butterfly. He will be competing for a national championship in that event on Thursday
