It's been a great week or so for a couple for couple of Marietta College baseball stars.
Last week Austin Blaski and Tim Saunder celebrated winning a second straight Division III World Series. And this week the Pioneers seniors were both selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.
Blaski was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 21st round of the draft.
Blaski just wrapped up an impressive career with the 'Etta Express The right hander finished the season with a 13-1 record with and a sparkling 1.23 earned run average
His performance earned All American honors and the Division III Pitcher of t he Year Award, and the Ohio Conference Player of the Year honors as well. .
Blaski will report to the Brewers rookie camp in Phoenix in the next few days.
Tim Saunders was the choice of the Chicago Cubs in the 32nd round of the draft.
Saunders was a force with his bat on offense, and a force with his glove as short stop for the Pioneers.
Saunders batted a sizzling ..441 with 48 runs driven in. He also led the nation with 94 base hits and 80 runs scored. and Tim is pretty quick on his feet with 41 steals.
His fantastic final years at Marietta earned him the Division III Position Player of the Years Award in addition to the Regional...and Conference Player of the Year honors
He's expected to report to the Cubs rookie camp in Mesa Arizona
