WV High School Soccer Tournament Postponed

:The weather delayed West Virginia High School Soccer tournament is being moved from Beckley to Charleston.

The decision was made by the State Secondary School Activities Commission today after it became apparent that the massive snowfall of this week has made the soccer fields in Beckley unplayable.

The competition was originally set for this weekend, but was pushed back to next Nov,.6-7 on Tuesday due to the storm.

The Class AAA tournament will now be played at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium and the AA/A competition will play at the Trace Fork Complex. Both locations are in Charleston

Parkersburg High School will play in the Class AAA semifinals against George Washington at 7:30pm on Tuesday.

Hurricane Sandy and Old Man Winter have put this week's West Virginia High School Soccer tournament on hold.

The tournament was originally scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, but heavy snowfall in the Beckley area has pushed it back to next week.

With the amount of snow in the Raleigh County area the competition has been rescheduled the tournament for Tuesday November 6 and Wednesday November 7. All game times and scheduled opponents will remain the same.

Kevin Taylor, Director of Emergency Services for the City of Beckley encouraged the governing body of high school athletics to make the change of dates.

The Parkersburg High Big Reds are now scheduled to play George Washington in the Class AAA boys semifinals Tuesday night at 7:30 on Cline field at the Beckley soccer complex.
