Williamstown Track Trio Earns Scholarships

Three Williamstown High School track athletes will be running into each other down the road on the collegiate level.

Thursday Kathleen Cornell, Mitch Goertler and Trevor Anderson all signed with West Virginia colleges on the NCAA Div. II level.

Cornell is headed to the University of Charleston. Cornell is a middle distance runner who has won 3 state champions in relay events, and helped the Yellowjackets win team championships.

Mitch Goertler and Trevor Anderson are both headed to West Virginia Wesleyan.

Goertler will compete in the pole vault for the Bobcats. Goertler has been involved with the pole vault since seventh grade. He has surpassed the 13 foot mark, and is looking to add to that height on the at college level.

Anderson's favorite event is the 400. He's enjoyed success in the event, including a third place finish at State.

Both Anderson and Goertler hope to build the success of the Bobcats program. While Cornell makes the transition from Yellowjacket to Golden Eagles at U.C.
