Burnett, Palmer Named WVU Student-Athletes of the Week

Burnett, a junior from Springfield, Va., finished sixth in
the 800 free (8:47.44), ninth in the 400 free (4:14.96), 22nd in the 400
IM (4:54.07), and 31st in the 200 free (2:03.97) last weekend at the
AT&T Winter National Championships in Atlanta.

Palmer, a sophomore from Mt. Vernon, N.Y., averaged 18 points
per game and 4.5 rebounds per game in wins over La Salle and Boston. For
the week, she recorded 36 points, nine rebounds, shot 46.9 percent from
the field and made six three-pointers.

Special Notes of the Week:
* Gymnastics: The WVU gymnastics team travels to Pitt this weekend for
the first-ever Gold-Blue scrimmage meet. The Mountaineers and Panthers
will square off on Dec. 10 at Fitzgerald Field House at 4 p.m.

* Women?s Basketball: The team travels to Syracuse for its BIG EAST
opener on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. The Mountaineers will then close
out the week with a game against North Florida at home on Saturday, Dec.
10, at noon.

* Wrestling: The Mountaineers wrestle at No. 4 Penn State on Sunday,
Dec. 11, in State College, Pa. The match begins at 2 p.m.
