(No. 4 Associated Press Poll/No. 3 USA Today Coaches Poll) Kansas State (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) travels to Morgantown, W.Va., to face (No. 17 AP/No. 15 USA Today Coaches Poll) West Virginia (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) in a Big 12 Conference matchup at Milan Puskar Stadium (60,000) on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., ET.
The game will be televised live on Fox Parkersburg.
This marks the third meeting between the two schools and the first between the two coaches. West Virginia and Kansas State split the two meetings, both in Morgantown, with WVU winning 23-7 in 1930
and losing 19-0 in 1931.
As the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State in 2010, WVU coach Dana Holgorsen faced Kansas State coach Bill Snyder. The Cowboys defeated Kansas State, 24-14, in Manhattan, Kansas. Wildcats coach Bill Snyder has never faced West Virginia.
Overall, West Virginia has posted an 11-5 record against
teams which hail from the Big 12 Conference: Baylor (1-0);
Kansas (1-0); Kansas State (1-1); Oklahoma (2-2); Oklahoma
State (2-1); TCU (1-0); Texas (2-0) and Texas Tech (1-1).
Beginning with a 27-0 loss to Fordham on Oct. 18, 1941, West Virginia has played 136 games against nationally ranked teams.
Of those, 41 have been Mountaineer victories. Since 2001, WVU has posted 17 victories over ranked teams. Texas was ranked No. 11 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 9 in the USA
Today Coaches Poll.
The Mountaineers have won their last four straight games against ranked opponents.
