One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime

Last year in our area 11 women and two children were killed by acts of domestic violence.

But, they are not forgotten.

Thursday morning the Family Crisis and Intervention Center hosted its 1st Annual Remembrance Breakfast.

Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell, police officers, firefighters, and community members gathered at the Blennerhassett Hotel to hear the emotional stories of those murdered.

Director Judi Ball says this event isn't only to honor their memory, but also raise awareness about the seriousness of the crime.

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence you can reach the Family Crisis and Intervention Center at (304) 428-2333.
