Less than three weeks...and counting. That's how much time you have to file this year's income tax return.
And thanks to the "fiscal cliff" budget wrangling in Washiington, this year's tax season got off to a slow start.
The Internal Revenue Service says some forms taxpayers needed to claim tax credits weren't available until just this month.
And that may lengthen the season for some filers.
"If they need to file for an extension and have money due, we are waiving the late payment penalty for them," says Jennifer Jenkins, Field Representative for the IRS. "That's a bit of a concession because the forms weren't quite ready for them when they wanted to access them right away."
The IRS says if you haven't done so, start working on your taxes now, to give yourself plenty of time to do it right.
The deadline was extended by a couple of days last year-but remember, April 15th once again is the last day to file.
