Five people are to be interviewed, to be the next director of the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department.
Dick Wittberg resigned that post at the end of March and, since then, a search committee has been looking for his successor.
The department's acting director tells us 22 people applied for the post.
Five finalists are to be interviewed by the health department board at a closed-door meeting next Thursday, June 5
"That search committee has been responsible for assuring that we advertise the position and receive resumes," says Acting Director Sandra Ellenwood, "and that we review those resumes, and select the applicants that will be interviewed."
The health department is also looking for a new finance director.
Ellenwood, who has held that position, is retiring.
The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department is looking for a new executive director.
Dick Wittberg, who has held that post for the past decade, confirmed to WTAP News he is resigning effective May 5.
Wittberg announced his decision to the health department board Thursday night.
He would not give a reason for his departure, except to say he "was moving on to greener pastures".
"We've done some great things," he said, "and I love working with the board, but I have decided to move on."
While his resignation does not take place until May, Wittberg plans to take vacation time between now and then.
