A major expansion of Belpre's senior center is now open.
The 1,500 square foot expansion was funded through the Washington County Senior Services Levy, local community foundations and the city.
It includes a new recreation room, and provides some much-needed space for the center's administrative offices.
"We've been able to continue to offer all those programs," says Center Director Susie Casto. "It's just that we've had to take tables and chairs up and down for all the various classes we've been offering. So this will allow us to have more and larger classes because we won't have to be sharing this space with other education programs."
The Belpre center is operated in a partnership with the city and Marietta's O'Neill Center.
It served more than 300 seniors last year.
