Ray Petelin joined WTAP-TV in January 2002 as the co-producer and news co-anchor of Daybreak. He also anchored the news on WTAP News at Noon.
Later, Ray caught the "weather bug," and his role at WTAP-TV transitioned into anchoring the news and weather on Daybreak and anchoring weather on the noon newscast.
Ray originally is from Ashtabula, Ohio. Before he came to the Mid-Ohio Valley, he served as an assignment editor at WFMJ in Youngtown, Ohio, and also worked in Cleveland. He is a graduate of the University of Akron.
In January 2004, Ray left WTAP-TV to join the weather team at WSEE-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania. Ray is the only meteorologist in Erie to hold seals of approval from both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
