Lauren Keeling joined the WTAP news team in February of 2007 as a nightside reporter, and in August 2007, was pleased to accept the position of Weekend Anchor. From there, Lauren planted her roots in Parkersburg and accepted the evening anchor job in June 2008.
June 2008 was a great big wonderful month, since that's when Lauren became a Keeling, and proudly married her husband Jim, a professional firefighter in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Lauren was lucky enough to get to tell a unique story each week with her Come Home segment that aired every Thursday at 6 p.m. She loved welcoming people back to the Mid-Ohio Valley, and sharing the happy stories of families re-uniting and friends re-connecting.
She graduated in June 2006 from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism. While in school, Lauren worked as a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society-OU Chapter, as well as the Appalachia READS Literacy Program. She had the opportunity to learn about the news business on a national level when she interned with NBC at the Today Show in the Spring of 2006.
Lauren is also proud to have represented her home state of Ohio in 2004 as Miss Ohio USA.
Since moving to the area, Lauren has found several wonderful organizations to become involved with that are close to her heart, including the American Heart Association and The Wood County Society Telethon. She's also a big supporter of the area's humane society's and shelters.
Lauren loves to spend time with her husband Jim, step-daughters Taylor, Kiersten and Madison, and the family's cat and dogs Charley, Winnie and Maddie. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, working on projects around the house with her husband, learning about flowers and gardening from her mom, Brenda, attending church and cooking out with her family and friends.
Lauren left WTAP in August 2013.
