Violet Ikonomova was WTAP's Marietta Bureau Chief and joined the team in November of 2010.
Violet was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and has lived in Tel Aviv, Israel, Worcester, Massachusetts, The Netherlands, and Washington, DC. She did most of her growing up in Metro Detroit, where, at the mere age of ten, she decided to pursue a career in journalism. Violet dabbled in television (reading her middle school's morning announcements) and print (writing for her high school newspaper) before moving to Boston to receive a formal education in broadcast journalism at Emerson College.
Throughout her collegiate career, she reported and anchored for Emerson's two campus television stations. Violet also served as a news producer, anchor and reporter for WERS, 88.9 FM Boston and spent a semester writing local news stories for D.C.'s Washington Examiner. Violet is an active member of the Radio Television Digital News Association and covered the 2010 RTDNA conference in Las Vegas for the group's website. She has been written up in both the Huffington Post and the Boston Globe Magazine for her outstanding work as a reporter and producer
