Friederich Theatre, Hermann Fine Arts Center, Marietta College
The Theatre at Marietta College concludes its season of “Fight or Flight” with two shows in repertory: The Seagull and Arms and the Man. Actors, designers, and theatre technicians will swap roles as the shows alternate performances over three exciting weekends. You won’t want to miss either of these modern classics about fighting for, fleeing from, and figuring out what it means to be in love.
The Seagull, Feb. 17 at 8pm / Feb. 18 at 2pm, Feb. 23 at 8pm / Feb. 25 at 8pm, Mar. 2 at 8pm / Mar. 3 at 2pm
During a dreamlike summer on a lakeside estate, a young playwright pines for his muse, yet she falls in love with a famous writer, but he is the lover of the young playwright’s actress mother. Chekhov’s characters feel the tragic sting and comic futility of unrequited love in this 1896 masterpiece that forged new directions in stage realism.
