Halie's wish list for the holidays includes a gift that can't be wrapped up!
‘Tis the season to be jolly, holiday celebrations are in full force, it is a time to be merry. Sticking with the Christmas theme, Halie and I toured a winter palace of sorts. She shares her hopes and dreams with the Mid-Ohio Valley in December's Wednesday's Child.
Halie and I turned a walk through a hotel courtyard into a stroll into a winter wonderland.
The Best Western in Ripley is decked out in Christmas cheer. A fabulous display brightened the day for this spunky teen. What also brought a smile to this 15-year-old’s face is an 18-year-old heartthrob.
"My favorite singer would have to be Jesse McCartney right now." I asked her if she though he was dreamy and without hesitation she said, "yes"!
Speaking of dreamy, Halie is dreaming of a white Christmas complete with "a nice family."
It's an unwrappable package that is topping out her wish list this year: health, happiness, a brother or sister, a pet, a bunch of friends and a set of parents who are "cool and strict ‘cause you have to have rules you always have rules."
Halie knows what she wants and knows it will come in time whether it's a family, a college education, or a career as a teacher.
"I just feel like it's so cool ‘cause you get to learn more than you actually do when you're in school."
So school is cool, movies are marvelous, dogs are delightful, and the Mountain State is almost heaven.
"West Virginia is my home town. I would literally go into tears if I left."
This holiday season our gift to Halie is running this story so her Christmas wish can come true.
Though it may not fit into a stocking, be tied with a bow, or fit under a tree we want to get Halie a family.
