Wednesday's Child

Smart, spunky, sporty... These are just three ways to describe August's Wednesday's Child.

Monica is a small town girl with big city dreams! She knows no boundaries.

"I do volleyball, basketball, cheer, softball. I do band. I play clarinet."

And in Monica's free time, when there is some, this 15-year-old volunteers at nursing homes and tutors kids, and let's not forget she makes quite a splash in school.

"I like school. I go to learn."

Refreshing words from a teen who’s gone through so much in such a short time yet constantly gives of herself.

I wanted to hear what she wanted in life, so we sat down and chatted poolside at Ripley's Parchment Valley.

"I like little kids, sad when they're sick. I just want to help them."

To do that Monica has her sights set on a volleyball scholarship. She's got the grades and hopes with hard work and dedication she can dive into a career as a pediatrician.

Because she is so good with children having a family with kids would be a bonus.

As for parents she'd like...

"Probably a combination between strict and cool, sort of like have rules but laid back."

And Monica's idea of kicking-back?

"I like staying at home, on the computer. I'm a big computer geek!"

I'm sure Bill Gates heard that a time or two and he has made an empire out of his geekiness!

At 5 feet 8, this tall teen is soaring to new and exciting heights!
As she reaches for the future she hopes to have a family cheering on her every success.
