Ryan Kaufman joined WTAP in January of 2018 as the Daybreak Producer.

Ryan Kaufman joined WTAP in January of 2018 as the Daybreak Producer.

Ryan comes to Parkersburg by way of Cedarville, Ohio (near Dayton) where he grew up and went to school (Go Indians!)

As a kid, he enjoyed all things weather and quickly became the family "weatherman." In second grade, everyone knows that a "line-leader" is a position assigned to a student, but Ryan received the first ever title of "weatherman," because of his love for weather.

To this day, the title remains in his elementary school for other students to have each week and provide a daily forecast for the others.

In 2012, he was accepted to California University of Pennsylvania with a major in Earth Science/Meteorology.

But in 2015 his passion was pulled in a different direction, and he switched his degree and concentration to Communication Studies/Radio and TV.

At this point, he began to work for the campus television station, California University Television (CUTV), where he worked as camera operator and graphics operator for their 150+ sports shoots per year.

Ryan worked his way up in CUTV to become the producer and co-anchor for CUTV NewsCenter, where he covered the PASSHE teacher strike (which was picked up by WTAE in Pittsburgh, PA) and the Ringgold High School teacher strike.

Ryan hopes that by working for WTAP, he can continue to grow and learn in this amazing profession.
