WASHINGTON, W.Va. (WTAP) - UPDATE: 11/01/2017, 1:30 P.M.
Investigators have released the names of the drivers involved in a fatal crash on Wednesday on Lake Washington Road.
According to Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens, the crash happened at 9:13 A.M. Wednesday, on Lake Washington Road in the community of Washington, West Virginia.
Brandi Lee Jones, 33, of Mitchell Fort Road in Washington, was driving a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound around a curve on Lake Washington Road.
Jones lost control of her SUV, which went sideways around the curve.
Joshua James Kerns, 33, of Lake Washington Road, was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup eastbound on Lake Washington Road, when he struck Jones’ SUV.
After the initial impact, both vehicles collided into a hillside near the curve.
Jones was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
Kerns was not seriously injured and was not taken to a hospital.
Sheriff Stephens says Kerns was walking around and talking with deputies after the crash.
Stephens added there is no indication of alcohol or drug use contributing to the crash.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated by the Wood County Crash Team.
Lake Washington Road near Bethel Road in Wood County is open again to traffic, after wreckage from a two-vehicle fatal accident was cleared shortly before noon Wednesday.
Emergency crews are at the scene of a fatal two-vehicle accident on Lake Washington Road.
Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens confirmed a woman died in the crash involving a pickup and an SUV.
A Wood County 911 dispatcher supervisor confirmed deputies responded to an accident with injuries in the 300 block of Lake Washington Road.
Additional details are not yet available.
The Wood County Crash Team is being called to investigate.
