10-Day, citywide road repaving project to begin next week in Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Drivers in Marietta will need to avoid parking on certain streets and watch out for work zones, as a 10-day, citywide repaving project begins.

Marietta's 2017 Citywide Paving Project will begin Monday, August 21st and be completed on Wednesday, August 30th, weather permitting.

Workers will be milling down old pavement on several streets and resurfacing them with new asphalt.

“No Parking” signs will be posted on each affected street at least 48 hours in advance of the milling and paving work.

Traffic will be allowed to drive through the streets as they're being repaved, but motorists should drive carefully and obey traffic control signs and flagmen.

The following streets are included in the 2017 Paving Project:

1st Ward:
Becker Lane, Jefferson Street (From Durwood Hoag Dr. to E. Eighth St.)
Phillips Street (From Warner St. to Acme St.)
Seventh Street (From Putnam St. to Front of Tim Hortons)
South Sixth Street (From Hart St. to Wayne St.)

2nd Ward:
Seventh Street (From Putnam St. to Front of Tim Hortons)
Warren Street (From Fifth St. to Seventh St.)

3rd Ward:
Linwood Ave., Montgomery St. (From Third St. to Fifth St.)
Tenth Street
Warren Street (From Fifth St. to Seventh St.)

4th Ward:
Barber Street, Fairview Lane, Franklin Street (From Putnam Ave. to Lancaster St.)
Lancaster Street (From Alta St. to Clark St.)
Market Street (From Franklin St. to Gilman Ave.)
New Street, Ward Street
Wyoming Road (From Laramie Rd. to Edgewood Dr.)
