Athens man charged for alleged social media threats against a school

ATHENS, OHIO (WTAP) - An Athens, Ohio man is charged with Inducing Panic, after police say he made threats on social media against a school.

Athens Police say at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to West Elementary School on Central Avenue in Athens, after school officials reported a man made threats against the school on social media earlier Wednesday morning.

Investigators say the person who made the threats was not found at the school or reported to be at the school at the time of the report.

In uptown Athens, police found and arrested the suspect, Daniel Martino, 38, of Athens, and charged him with Inducing Panic.

Athens Police say they will release more details on this case in the coming days as their investigation concludes.
