Athens police release name of man charged in connection to sexual assault

ATHENS, OHIO (WTAP) - Athens police have released the name of a man they say is charged in connection to a sexual assault that occurred in the uptown area of Athens on December 5th. Officers say Mohammed Al-Mashrafi Nasser, 23, of Athens, Ohio has been charged with rape, a felony of the 1st degree, and abduction, a felony of the 3rd degree.

Al-Mashrafi Nasser was transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail and is set to appear in Athens Municipal Court this morning, Thursday, December 6th at 8:30 a.m.

His bond is set at a combined $60,055 for both charges.

Athens police say the case is currently under investigation and no other information is expected at this time.
