BELPRE, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE 12/5/2018 3:47 p.m.

The Belpre City School District Board of Education had a special board meeting on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

It was to discuss finding a replacement for current superintendent Tony Dunn. He will be retiring at the end of January 2019.

The meeting was to help get the word out that the board is looking for a candidate to take his place.

The meeting was in executive session.

Belpre City Schools Superintendent Tony Dunn says he will retire at the end of January, 2019.

Dunn became Superintendent of Belpre City Schools 7 years ago in May, 2011.

Since then, he's played a major role in bettering the education system and the community.

This announcement comes only months after the emergency levy for Belpre City Schools was approved.

Dunn's retirement is effective in just a few months at the end of January, 2019.

The announcement was made at a special Belpre Board of Education meeting on Monday evening.

We will have more details on this story tonight on WTAP News at 10;00 and 11:00.
