MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Cryptosporidium, or crypto, is a parasite that has been linked to public pools and water parks.
With Memorial Day weekend quickly approaching the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wants you to be aware of its dangers.
The parasite can be spread by simply, swallowing the contaminated water.
CEO of YMCA in Marietta says, “Our staff and maintenance department are responsible for keeping it clean doing the back washes, three times a week. The life guards on a daily basis are doing cleaning and checking chemicals routinely. We vacuum the pool once or twice a week as needed, more if there's more traffic in the pool."
