Contour Airlines begins service from Parkersburg to Charlotte, NC

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP) - Wednesday morning marked a pretty special occasion for the Mid-Ohio Valley regional airport, not only did flights resume to the region, a new name can be seen on the side of the planes.
Contour Airlines the new Airline began it's service to Charlotte, NC. The flight, which takes right around 2 hours stops in Beckley along the way.
You may notice unlike the former airline which serviced the region, Contour uses jets to carry its passengers in comfort.
"There is a component of reliability that comes with having a jet aircraft; this particular aircraft has quite a bit of leg room in it compared to the previous operator's aircraft, it's obviously a little bit faster than the others, it's quieter, the pressurized cabin is comfortable as we go along."
As of right now, Contour will only fly to Charlotte from Parkersburg.
"So with options like Charleston and Columbus to fly from, why should you choose Charlotte? Well as a major domestic hub for American Airlines there's over 150 flights, so you can fly pretty much anywhere in the United States."
One additional destination you'll be able to reach from Charlotte is Tampa starting on December 22nd.
Glenn Kelly, the MOV Regional Airport Manager is excited about this new service and says it offers something special to the area.
"Well I'm just very happy we've got a carrier that has the reliability numbers that they do have, a 98.7% completion rate is the lowest they have in any of their markets. I believe reliability is the key to bring our customers back, the other great part, it's all business class seating and it's an outstanding jet; the ERJ135 is a great jet."
Along with the economic benefits, Contour Airlines provides a great service to the Mid-Ohio Valley to get you where you need to be, but to also get you back home, because after all, This is Home
