UPDATE: Five fire departments battle structure fire that destroys home in Newport, Ohio

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE: 10/10/2018, 5:00 PM

Five fire departments responded Wednesday to a fire that destroyed a home, but caused no injuries, on Long Run Road in Newport, Ohio.

Fire departments from Newport, Reno, Williamstown, Saint Marys and Fearing all dispatched units to a house fire on the 1800 block of Long Run Road in Newport.

Reno Fire Chief Dan Ritchie said when his department arrived on the scene, the house was fully engulfed and the roof had already collapsed.

Ritchie says it took some time for firefighters to get the fire under control.

He said the main challenge was getting water out to the location of the fire.

"The water, the hauling of the water. Newport was going back to the tank farm on State Route 7 and we were sending our truck and WIlliamstown's truck back to our fire station in Reno so this is the 18 mile marker on Long Run Road that tells you how far we had to travel for water and the problems we encounter on these structure fires
out here in the country."

There are no injuries reported, but the home is a total loss.
