Dozens attend ribbon-cutting ceremony for renovated Music Therapy facilities

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday evening at Marietta College for the opening of the renovated Music Therapy facilities and recording studio.

Don '81 and Leslie Straub Ritter '85, gifted $1 million ten months ago for the new facilities.

The facilities located in McKinney Hall are part of the Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music.

Marietta Chamber of Commerce conducted the formal ribbon ceremony.

Dozens gathered at the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the renovations and enjoy live music from the Marietta College Pio Pep Band.

Marietta College President, Dr. William Ruud says, “This program will attract new students and bolster opportunities for current music majors. The college will now be able to support students who wish to pursue board certified music therapy and who work to approve physiological and physiological functioning in a variety of settings."

The program will officially begin as a new major in the fall of 2018.
