UPDATE: Missing elderly woman with dementia found in Columbus

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE: 11:41 A.M.

Authorities in Washington County have called off the search for a missing elderly woman from Zanesville, after she was found at a casino in Columbus, Ohio.

Sheriff Larry Mincks confirmed shortly before noon Thursday that she had been located at a casino in Columbus.

Authorities began searching an area along Route 60 near Big Run Road Thursday morning after getting reports that she might be with an elderly man in the area.

Authorities found the man safe inside a truck near Big Run Road, but they said he was not able to provide them with information about where she might be.

Authorities have not released their identities.


Washington County authorities are searching for an elderly female reportedly missing from the Zanesville area.

Sheriff Larry Mincks says the woman and an elderly man, who both suffer from dementia, might have been together this morning in a vehicle that was located on Route 60 at Big Run.

Mincks says the man was found safe in the vehicle but was unable to give authorities any information about the woman.

Authorities are looking for the woman in the area where the truck was located, and as a precaution, they’re preparing to launch a boat on the Muskingum River as part of the search.
