Farm Bureau Hosts Meet the Candidates Annual Dinner

WOOD COUNTY (WTAP)-- It's a sure sign of Fall...

It's the Annual Dinner for the Wood County Farm Bureau and Meet the Candidates Night.

The gathering allows the Farm Bureau membership to get to know the candidates for a variety of races.

"We try to have these around the state so that our rural members can have a better understanding of the issues," explains Government Affairs Director Dwayne O'Dell, "and also be able to talk face to face, if you will, with those that are running for both our local (office) and state-wide office."

Agriculture may not seem like a large segment of the region's economy but Farm Bureau says economists tell us every dollar spent by farmers cycles five to six times in the local economy.

As a result, agriculture in the greater Wood County area should never be overlooked. O'Dell says the region is the fourth largest agricultural area in the state.
