Gallia County man arrested for alleged threats made against restaurant

GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - The Gallia County Sheriff's Office arrested a man for allegedly making threats against a restaurant in the county on Sunday.

Sheriff Matt Champlin says his department received reports that an "irate" person made calls to the Bobs Evans restaurant in Rio Grande threatening to "blow the place up."

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, University of Rio Grande Police Department, Rio Grande Police Department, the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Department, and the Gallia County E.M.S. responded to the scene. The building was evacuated and then a suspect was identified.

Cody Johnson, 25, of Gallipolis, was taken into custody an hour after the initial report. He's charged with inducing panic.

Sheriff Champlin says his department takes threats like this one very seriously.

Johnson could face additional charges.
