Humane Society gets new outdoor cat shelter because of Eagle Scout’s project

MARIETTA OH, (WTAP)- The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley has brand new cat condos thanks to a local teenager’s Eagle Scout project.

Logan McCracken, a 14 year old member of Reno Boy Scout Troop 200, has volunteered with the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley and wanted to do more to help.

He designed, constructed, and installed waterproof cat condos that will provide shelter for numerous outdoor cats that roam around the humane society.

Logan’s handiwork is an upgrade from the old outdoor cat shelters that would fill with water when it rained, making them all around inefficient and easily damaged.

“I feel that it will help more than just the cats. It will help the people and workers that have to always move the box and everything the cats use to be living in and always having to worry about buying new ones... Instead of the cats just running around the community, they have a sure place to say,” explains McCracken.

To fund the project, Logan raised $500.00. The leftover money was donated back to the humane society.
