PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP) - Hundreds descend on WVU Parkersburg to celebrate all things pop culture.
The 3rd annual Parkersburg Pop Con took over the College Activities Center Saturday.
It featured cosplay contests, special panels, meet and greets with comic book writers and artists, and plenty of pop culture vendors. Organizers say cosplayers and fans alike easily connect over their passion for this culture.
"Some people are shy and a normal person can get behind a mask," said one cosplayer, "and hey they get to hide and be another person. It helps than socialize and make friends plus it’s just a really great way to spend money."
Doug Anthony, chair of the Pop Con committee says the event brings together fans and creative talent from all across the area.
"Third year for it. It’s growing ever year by like about 200 attendees each year," Anthony said. "So we’re hoping we keep growing."
All of the proceeds went to the university's Riverhawk food pantry and the alumni association.
