Beloved Wood County educator passes away at age 72

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A long-time educator in Wood County has passed away. Arthur "Art" Bolyard was one of the first teachers at Parkersburg South High School.

He taught business and psychology and was senior class sponsor. He served as a vice-principal at Jackson Junior High School and Parkersburg South High School.

At Hamilton Junior High School, he was once the principal. He was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir.

His wife of 50 years, Dee Bolyard, was a long-time teacher in Wood County as well.

He passed away July 10, 2017, at age 72.
