MOV Transit Authority to end early Saturday morning runs

PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) This Saturday, November 10, will be the last for early morning Easy Rider bus runs.

The bus system is eliminating most of its Saturday service before 7 A.M.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority says the changes will not affect its "Easy Lift" paratransit service, and runs to Ohio Valley University will also remain unchanged.

Mike Kesterson, the system's acting manager, says elimination of the early-Saturday morning runs reflect ridership in the pre-dawn hours on that day.

"There were only maybe 3 or 4 passengers on the bus," he says, "running that early in the morning, on our runs up until 7:00. It just made more sense to do that instead of empty buses on Saturday morning."

The bus system says it will run its evening loop routes all day Saturday, with one change.

The Hillview Terrace Apartments will be added to the Vienna loop. The bus will turn down 12th Street between Lowes and Sam's Club, make a right on 14th Avenue, go up to Hillview Terrace and back down 12th Street to Grand Central Avenue. This will be done on all runs.

The changes begin November 17th.
