Man allegedly carjacks woman's car, leads deputies on chase

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Marietta Police say a man reportedly attacks a woman to take her car.

Marietta Police says it happened at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Fourth Street and Warren Street. That's near Washington Elementary School.

Police say the woman was getting into her car when the man tried to take her keys from her. The woman's stepfather tried to step in and help, but the alleged carjacker threatened to kill him.

Police say the man took off on Route Seven South toward Belpre. Washington County deputies chased the red 2015 Chevrolet Trax until he crossed the Memorial Bridge.

Wood County deputies, West Virginia State Police and the Parkersburg Police Department tried looking for him.

Marietta Police say the car was found with On Star technology at Stadium Field by Parkersburg High School. Marietta Police say he could face several felony charges once he's found.
