Man shot in Mason County, investigation underway


MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - An investigation into a shooting in Mason County is underway.

Around noon Wednesday, deputies were sent to a home on Ashton Upland Road to investigate a reported shooting. Once there, the resident told them a man had entered the house making threats. In defense, the resident shot him.

After being shot, the man reportedly ran away to a nearby mobile home. That's where police found him lying on the couch with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

He was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital. The Mason County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation.
