Marietta College students preparing for second Oil and Gas Exhibition

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Dozens of companies will visit Marietta College this week to educate students about the oil and gas industry.

The second Oil and Gas Exhibition kicks off Friday on campus. Several industry-leading companies will be there with workshops and hands-on learning opportunities for students.

Organizers say this year's event is focused on educating the community as well.

"I think it's a great thing for the college because we get our name out there and we show what our students are capable of doing." said William Bates, co-chair of the event and a petroleum engineering student. "For this to be an entirely student-led event, I think it's truly great to be able to bring in all of these companies and bring the oil field to our college, our community members, our students and anybody surrounding that wants to attend."

The event runs from 10 to 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.
