Most stores more forgiving about returns during holiday season

PARKERSBURG, W.Va (WTAP) - While many of you appreciated the gifts you got for Christmas, you'll most likely be heading back to retailers to return some of them.

Luckily, most chains will give you extra time to return or exchange what you received.

If you shopped online, you're in luck also. Typically, sellers listed there allow customers to return items within 30 days. For the holidays, purchases shipped by between November 1 and December 31 can be returned all the way through January 31 for a full refund.

Small businesses, like Mulberry Lane in Parkersburg, also give shoppers more flexibility with returns during this time of year.

"We normally have a 14-day window that we like returns back, but we know when people are buying for Christmas, a lot of people shop really early that they need extended time, so we give them through the month of January," said Tina Salmans, co-owner of Mulberry Lane.
