New Director named for West Virginia Office of Medical Cannabis

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services has named its new Director of the Office of Medical Cannabis.

On Friday, Jason Frame was named Director of the West Virginia Office of Medical Cannabis by Dr. Rahul Gupta, State Health Officer and Commissioner of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Bureau for Public Health.

West Virginia's Medical Cannabis Act was signed into law on April 19, 2017, and allows cannabis to be used for certified medical use by West Virginians with a serious medical condition.

Patient and caregiver cards will not be issued until July 1, 2019.

Jason Frame previously worked for DHHR’s Office of Environmental Health Services for five years.

He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Charleston.

Frame is expected to be officially introduced at the upcoming Medical Cannabis Advisory Board meeting on February 6, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the University of Charleston’s Ballroom.
