MARIETTA, Oh. (WTAP) - Gold Star Park-goers will soon see a new addition at the park.
The Washington County Health Department is using its Creating Healthy Communities grant to install a disc golf course at the park on Harmar Hill, formerly Lookout Park.
Health department officials say the grant is for projects that promote healthy, sustainable living for years to come.
"Everything we do is through partnerships and collaborations. That's the only way that we're going to have an impact. So for this one we're partnering with the city of Marietta, also having some help from Veritas Academy to make some improvements to the park," Health Department Director of Population Health Court Witschey said, "and disc golf is a great recreational sport that just about anyone can participate in."
Witschey says the project should be completed before the end of the summer.
