RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. (WTAP) - A deer is roaming free again thanks to the efforts of a local sheriff and one of his deputies.
Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs and Lt. Chris Metz went to a home on Hemlock Road in Ravenswood Wednesday morning after getting a call that a deer was tangled up in a backyard soccer net.
The officers used a pair of scissors to cut the net and set the deer free.
Boggs says it only took a couple of minutes to free the deer, which had one front leg and one back leg caught in the net.
He says the deer stayed calm the whole time but quickly ran away into the woods once it was free of the net
It's unknown how long the deer had been tangled up in the net.
