Pleasants County road re-opened after oil spill

BELMONT, W.Va. (WTAP) - UPDATE: 02/02/18 10 A.M.

A road in Pleasants County has re-opened after being closed because of an oil spill Thursday night.

The spill has been contained, and Henry Camp Road was re-opened around 3 a.m. Friday, according to a spokesman for the West Virginia Division of Highways.

It's unclear how much oil spilled.

The DOH spokesman says the property owner struck the well with a vehicle causing the spill.

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection will be investigating, and the DOH spokesman says the road will need to be closed again to allow repairs to be completed.

Dispatchers confirm an oil spill has a road closed in Pleasants County.

They say it happened on Henry Camp Road. The West Virginia Division of Highways has shut down while they assess the scene.

Dispatchers say the Belmont Volunteer Fire Department is leading the investigation at this time. WTAP called the fire station about how it happened and how much oil spilled, but got no answer.
