One of the Parkersburg Homecoming's lead entertainment groups has dropped out of the event.

The Parkersburg Homecoming Committee says it was informed on Thursday that the Davisson Brothers Band, which was scheduled to perform on Aug. 17, had cancelled several shows, including the one Parkersburg, because the band has been selected to be part of a television show.

Rick Modesitt, who's in charge of booking the performers at homecoming, called the the Davisson Brothers the hardest working band in West Virginia.

He says officials are reviewing a list of nearly 50 other acts and should be able to announce a replacement on Friday or Monday.
