UPDATE: Parkersburg man sentenced to 5-to-25 years for sexual abuse of girl

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - UPDATE: 12/06/2018 3:04 PM

A Parkersburg man who pleaded guilty in October to five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, involving a young girl, was sentenced Thursday in Wood County Circuit Court.

Jonathon Keife, 35, was sentenced to five consecutive 1-to-5 year prison sentences, for a total of 5-to-25 years in prison, with 549 days credit previously served.

Keife is also required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, and was also placed on 50 years of extended supervision because he is now a sex offender.

Keife is being held in the West Virginia North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.

A Parkersburg man pleads guilty to five counts of first-degree sexual abuse in a case involving a young girl.

Jonathon Keife, 35, entered the plea before Judge J.D. Beane in Wood County Circuit Court Monday morning. He is scheduled to be sentenced in December.

Parkersburg police arrested Keife in June 2017, and he was indicted on eight counts of sexual abuse in August 2017.

At the time of his arrest, police said there were at least two instances of sexual contact with the girl at a residence in Parkersburg in August 2016.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court at the time of his arrest, Keife admitted to detectives that allegations made by the victim were true.

Keife remains in the North Central Regional Jail.


UPDATE: 6/12/17 4:30 p.m.

Jonathon Keife waived his preliminary hearing Monday at Wood County Magistrate Court.

His lawyer requested his bond be reduced to $150,000.

Magistrate Jody Purkey granted that request on the condition of GPS home confinement. If Keife posts bond, he can not return to his residence, Packard Street in Parkersburg, be in the vicinity of Wood County Schools, or come in contact directly or indirectly with children under 18.

His case now moves to circuit court either for another hearing or for indictment by a grand jury.

A Parkersburg man was arrested Wednesday on charges of sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl.

Jonathon Lee Keife, 34, of Parkersburg, was arrested Wednesday by Parkersburg Police and charged with two counts of sexual abuse.

Police say investigators determined that there were two alleged instances of sexual contact with the girl that happened in August 2016 at a residence in Parkersburg.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court, Keife admitted to detectives that allegations made by the victim were true.

Keife is currently being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $200,000 cash surety bond.

Police say they expect to file additional criminal charges in the case as the investigation continues.
