PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP) - Residents of Wood County stood at 4th and Market Streets in Parkersburg on Thursday night to protest the appointment of Matt Whitaker as U.S. Attorney General to replace Jeff Sessions, who resigned.

Members of Wood County Indivisible were protesting President Trump's appointment of Matt Whitaker as U.S. Attorney General to replace Jeff Sessions, who resigned, as special counsel Robert Mueller’s boss for the Russia investigation.

They say that Whitaker "has publicly outlined strategies to stifle the (Mueller) investigation".

The dozens of protesters want Congress to make sure that the Russia investigation is not obstructed by the Trump Administration.
