PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The ride-sharing service Lyft began operating in the Mid-Ohio Valley today.

Lyft, a service that allows users to hail a ride to and from anywhere within 100 miles using the Lyft smartphone app, says it is launching service today in 54 new cities across the Nation, including Parkersburg, Mineral Wells, Vienna, Williamstown, Marietta, Belpre and surrounding areas.

In this area, Lyft offers a "standard" ride that can accommodate up to 3 passengers, or a "Plus" ride that can ferry up to 6 passengers.

The company says all new passengers can use the code LYFTLOVE17 to receive $5 off their first Lyft ride anywhere.
